This Old House's 2026 survey of 1,000 window customers puts the average at $517 per installed window. Angi's average is $750 per window, with a $300–2,500 range; Modernize reports $1,047 per window across more than a million projects. Angi's Columbus page estimates $500–800 per window. Read those averages for what they are: mostly plain, lower-end insert windows — stock units from the store, swapped into the existing frame. A made-to-order window sits above them because the window does.
Stock double-hung windows list at about $250 for a Menards JELD-WEN replacement unit, $319–348 for a Lowe's Pella 150 and $450 for a Home Depot JELD-WEN; the last two are new-construction units with a nailing fin. Ply Gem's Contractor Series is listed at $45–60 per square foot installed, about $675–900 for a 36 × 60-inch window. Pella's own figures put an installed Pella window at $800–1,600 in vinyl and $1,100–2,200 in fiberglass or wood. The 2025 Cost vs. Value report puts vinyl window replacement at 76% of its cost recouped at resale.
With your selections so far, the estimate comes to for — about per window installed, with everything in the breakdown in it.
Our number follows the window you set on the slider. At the Ply Gem Contractor double-hung we usually order — stock-window money, cut to your exact size — it lands inside the market averages above. Decorative glass, grids, more panes, laminated glass, and casement or picture windows move it up, because the window does, not the install. The install is 2 crew hours per window, and the breakdown ends with a 15 % suggested contingency. Those figures are for insert windows set into an existing wood frame; full-frame and new-construction windows, and windows set in brick, stone or stucco, are quoted after a site visit.
